A Brand New Path

2017 is a brand New Year because it is appearing for the first time, it is unused, it is occurring fresh, it is the latest, it is strange to us because we are not accustomed to it at all. Therefore, we need to depend completely on The Lord to guide us throughout the entire year.

In Joshua 3v1-10 the children of Israel were to cross through river Jordan to their promised land as we are crossing through year 2017 to a greater height. Israel was commanded to do certain things so that they could safely reach their promised land because the path was new and they have not trodden it before (Joshua 3:4)

In Joshua 3:4-3, the people received divine guidance from the Lord and followed through. We need divine guidance from the Lord to make it through in 2017 because “not by might, not by power but by My Spirit" says the Lord. We can’t do it by our strength or our intellectual, we need to completely depend on the Holy Spirit and follow His guidance.

In verse #5 Joshua encouraged the people to sanctify themselves for the wonders of God. In order to receive the blessings of God in 2017, we must live a sanctified life, a righteous life; a life that is pleasing to Him, a life of “go and sin no more”, a life that is totally void of sin because God does not hear sinners John 9:31. We must keep in mind that the eyes of the Lord run to and fro the whole earth 2Chronicles.... We cannot hide from him no matter how much we try Psalm 139:7-8.

V6 "Joshua spoke to the priests, saying, 'Take up the Ark of the Covenant and cross over before the people', So they took up the Ark of the Covenant and went before the people". We need the grace to obey God’s word totally and not partially. 99% of obedience is not enough for the Lord, let's bear in mind that partial obedience is equal to total disobedience. God leads the sheep and not the goats, we must become the sheep of God in order to make it through to greater heights this year John 10:4-5.

V9. Joshua said to the people “Come and hear the Word of the Lord…” We cannot do without the Word of God because it is a light unto our path Psalm 105v…; We need to keep the Word of God in our heart to live a sinless life Psalm 109.... We must make the Bible our closest friend to make our way prosperous and to have good success in 2017 Joshua 1v8.

V7. God said to Joshua “This day will I begin to magnify you in the sight of all Israel…” God wants to magnify and promote us this year but we must listen to His instructions, obey Him completely, and follow His guidance. Then He will exalt us, promote us, honor us and magnify us according to His promise.

Pray for the grace to serve God this year, to love Him, to walk with Him, to depend on Him, and to follow Him more than ever. Ask for the power to study, read and meditate on the Word of God day and night.
